Your Gay Group Cruise

Overview

Try it. Taste it. Discover it – all in one fabulous weekend.

This isn’t just a cruise – it’s a Discovery Tour. Think of it as your all-gay, all-fun sampler: a hosted long weekend where we explore Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas together for the first time.

From robot bartenders to Broadway shows, North Star’s jaw-dropping views to bumper cars and the iconic FlowRider surf simulator – this ship has 29 food and beverage outlets alone! You won’t be able to do it all – and that’s exactly the point.

We’re encouraging guests to branch out, try something new, and then come back and share what they discovered. Maybe it’s a spicy cocktail at Boleros, a surprise hit show in the theatre, or a secret deck with a killer view. New flavours, new friends, and new favourites – that’s what this Discovery Tour is all about.

You’ll cruise round-trip from Sydney, stop off in Eden, NSW for a splash of nature, enjoy a full day at sea to relax or roam the ship, and connect with a welcoming group of fellow travellers. It’s a short escape packed with surprises – perfect for first-timers or those looking to dip their toe into the world of gay group cruising.

Why cruise with our group?

  • Try more. Worry less. We take care of the details so you can focus on the fun – from check-in to cocktails.
  • Travel solo, but never alone. Whether you’re flying solo or cruising with mates, you’ll be part of a friendly hosted group from the get-go.
  • No pressure, just possibilities. We create the space – you choose your own adventure. Share a table, hit a show, or sneak off to the spa. It’s your cruise, your way.
  • Hosted by Adam Bold. Cruise host, travel whisperer, and founder of Points of Difference Travel & Events – Adam’s your behind-the-scenes support and occasional ringmaster of mischief.

What is a gay group cruise?

This isn’t a full-ship charter, but it’s the next best thing,  and far more personal. You’ll be part of a hosted LGBTQ+ group travelling together aboard a regular Royal Caribbean cruise, creating our own “gay layer” of events, experiences, and social connection onboard.

That means you still enjoy everything the ship offers, 29 bars and restaurants, thrilling entertainment, world-class amenities, but with the bonus of curated group moments, hosted dinners, and friendly faces around every corner.

Everyone is welcome to join our group, and you’re always free to explore the ship on your own terms. But if you’re looking for a community vibe, shared experiences, and space to truly be yourself, you’ll feel right at home.

If you’re after a full-ship all-gay cruise, get in touch and we can point you in the right direction.

Travelling with Points of Difference Travel & Events means enjoying a cruise that’s elevated, engaging, and truly unforgettable. It’s the perfect mix of freedom and togetherness, with just the right amount of flair.

What’s Included in Your Cruise Fare

Your cruise fare includes all the essentials – with flexibility to upgrade your experience as you wish. Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or try cruising for the first time, you can tailor your holiday to suit your style and budget.

  • All Meals (Standard Dining): Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included daily at a wide range of complimentary venues, including Windjammer Marketplace, the Main Dining Room, Sorrento’s, Café Promenade, and more.
As part of our hosted group, reserved group dining is included each evening in the Main Dining Room – a wonderful way to connect with fellow travellers.
  • Entertainment & Activities: Enjoy Broadway-style shows, live music, themed parties, the FlowRider® surf simulator, SeaPlex® games, and much more – all included with your fare.
  • Optional Wi-Fi (VOOM®): Internet access is not included in your base fare but can be added for an additional charge. We recommend at least one guest per stateroom has basic access to stay up to date with group messages and event changes.
  • Gratuities: Gratuities (tipping) for your cabin steward, dining room staff, and bar service team are not included in the base fare. You can either pre-pay them before you cruise or have them automatically charged to your onboard account during your trip.

This is your chance to discover what makes Anthem of the Seas one of the world’s most innovative cruise ships. Whether you’re brand new to cruising or just new to Royal Caribbean, today is all about trying things out — your way.

  • North Star®: Get breathtaking ocean views from 100 metres above sea level in the glass observation capsule.
  • FlowRider® Surf Simulator: Ever wanted to try surfing without falling into the sea? Now’s your chance.
  • Rock Climbing Wall: A fun challenge with ocean views as your reward.

Day 3 – Sun 30 Nov – Eden, Australia

Docked: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Welcome to Eden – New South Wales’ southern gem, known for its dramatic coastline, fresh oysters, and migrating whales. It’s a place that lives up to its name – a delightful stop to stretch your legs, explore, and soak up a slower pace.

Join your fellow cruisers for a relaxed wander through town, take a scenic stroll to Boyd Tower in Ben Boyd National Park, or simply kick back on the beach and enjoy the view.

Want a little adventure?

Spot whales from the headland or book a tour with one of Eden’s long-running whale watching operators.

Beach hop between Aslings, Cocora, or the photo-perfect Pinnacles.

Sample freshly shucked oysters or pick up sweet local treats like Darrell Lea liquorice from the Eden Newsagency.

Prefer something easy?

Hop off the ship, grab a coffee, and follow the shoreline at your own pace. You’ll find picnic spots, local art, and plenty of friendly small-town charm.

As always, we’ll post group meet-up times and recommendations via our WhatsApp group – so you can join the fun or go your own way.

As you disembark, why not linger a little longer? Sydney offers a feast of iconic landmarks and local secrets. Catch a final glimpse of the Opera House or Harbour Bridge, take a coastal stroll at Bondi, or dive into the ocean one last time at Gordon’s Bay. Prefer something more relaxed? To help keep you in the loop with group updates before and during the cruise, we use WhatsApp for messaging and communication.

As a condition of booking, at least one guest per stateroom must have a Wi-Fi package and have WhatsApp installed and active. This allows us to send important updates, schedule changes, and event announcements during your cruise.

Wi-Fi is not included in your base cruise fare with Royal Caribbean. A basic VOOM® Surf package must be purchased separately. As a general guide, pricing starts from around USD $20 per device per day, and includes access to email, messaging apps, and web browsing. Royal Caribbean occasionally offers discounts on Wi-Fi packages through their Cruise Planner.

We strongly recommend purchasing your Wi-Fi package in advance via the Royal Caribbean app once your booking is confirmed – this is usually cheaper than purchasing it onboard.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance when booking their cruise. Travel insurance protects you against unexpected events such as medical emergencies, cancellations, lost luggage, or travel disruptions.

It’s important to remember that while onboard, the ship’s medical facilities are not covered by Medicare or private health insurance – and international medical expenses can be significant without proper coverage. Your policy should include cruise-specific coverage, any relevant pre-existing medical conditions, and all regions you’ll be visiting.

As the Australian Government’s SmartTraveller website advises:

“If you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel.”

For your convenience, we can arrange a travel insurance policy quickly and easily – often in under 10 minutes over the phone. Plus, all Island Fruits guests receive an exclusive 20% bonus discount on their policy.

👉 Already have annual cover? Please double-check that it includes cruising and covers all destinations on this itinerary.

Contact us today to arrange your cover and set sail with complete peace of mind.

Passports & Visas

We strongly recommend cruising with your valid Australian passport, even for itineraries that remain within Australian waters. It provides the most seamless check-in experience and ensures you’re covered in case of emergency diversions or unexpected port changes.

While Australian citizens may be permitted to travel domestically using other forms of ID, cruise lines often prefer a passport for identity verification and boarding. International guests must travel on a valid passport from their country of citizenship.

Passport validity: Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the cruise departure date.

If you’re unsure about what ID to bring, please contact us before booking. We’re happy to help ensure your documentation is in order so you can sail stress-free.

What ID do I need for this Australian domestic cruise?

For cruises that remain entirely within Australian waters, Royal Caribbean allows Australian citizens to travel without a passport – but you’ll still need valid government-issued photo ID.

If you don’t have a passport or driver’s license, you can instead present:

  • A Proof of Age Card from your state or territory
  • A Photo Card (also called a Photo ID or Identity Card) issued by your state’s licensing or services department
  • An Australia Post Keypass Identity Card

The ID must be valid (not expired), include a clear photo, and match the name on your cruise booking.

Please note that Medicare cards, student cards, and digital IDs may not be accepted for cruise check-in. If you’re unsure what’s valid, contact us before travel to avoid any issues at the port.

What’s Included in Your Cruise Fare?

Your Royal Caribbean cruise fare includes all the essentials, with the flexibility to upgrade your experience as you wish. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or try cruising for the first time, you can tailor your holiday to suit your style and budget.

  • All Meals (Standard Dining): Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available daily at a wide range of complimentary venues, including Windjammer Marketplace, the Main Dining Room, Sorrento’s Pizza, Café Promenade, Dog House, and more. As part of our hosted group, reserved group dining is included each evening – a great way to connect with fellow travellers.
  • Entertainment & Activities: Enjoy Broadway-style shows, live music, themed parties, the FlowRider® surf simulator, SeaPlex® bumper cars and games, rock climbing wall, and more – all included in your fare.
  • Accommodation: Comfortable, well-appointed staterooms serviced daily by your dedicated stateroom attendant. Choose from Interior, Ocean View, Balcony, or Suite options.
  • Group Hosting & Events: Your group participation fee includes access to exclusive hosted events, social mixers, daily meet-ups, and a few ssurprises – all part of the “Gay Layer” experience with Points of Difference Travel & Events.

Please note: Drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities, and some specialty dining options are not included in your base fare. See other FAQ entries for details on optional extras.

What is a gay group cruise?

A gay group cruise is a hosted travel experience for LGBTQ+ guests and allies, where you’re part of a dedicated group onboard a mainstream cruise. Unlike a full-ship charter, where every guest is part of the LGBTQ+ community, a gay group cruise sails as part of a regular cruise departure. You’ll enjoy all the same ship features and amenities, with the added bonus of a curated social layer designed just for our group.

With Points of Difference Travel & Events, that means hosted dinners, exclusive gatherings, optional group shore excursions, and daily catch-ups with your fellow travellers. We call it our “gay layer” – friendly, fun, and flexible. You’re free to join as much or as little as you like, but you’ll always know there’s a welcoming group nearby if you want to connect.

You can travel solo, with a partner, friends, or as part of a social club. Everyone in our group is pre-registered, so you’ll start the cruise with some familiar faces and meet more along the way.

And if you’re ever looking for a full-ship all-gay cruise, just reach out. We can point you in the right direction or let you know about upcoming options.

How do I find the group onboard?

We’ll provide a Skeleton Schedule before the cruise outlining all our hosted group events. Each day typically includes:

  • A casual morning catch-up – usually around 11:00 AM on sea days, and earlier (8:00–9:00 AM) on port days
  • Pre-dinner drinks
  • Optional group activities such as shows, dinners, or evening events

We’ll also keep you updated via our private WhatsApp group throughout the cruise, so you’ll always know what’s happening and where to meet up.

Is participation in group activities mandatory?

Not at all! We design our hosted cruises to be as flexible as you need them to be.

You’re welcome to join in the social events, dinners, and hosted moments – or carve out your own path and dip in when it suits. Whether you’re here to make new friends, enjoy the entertainment, or simply relax with a good book and room service, your time onboard is your own.

No pressure. No awkward games. Just a friendly group and a shared vibe – join in as much or as little as you like.

How do onboard payments work?

Onboard payments are charged directly to your SeaPass card (your onboard account), similar to how you would charge expenses to a room account at a hotel. Charges for drinks, specialty dining, spa services, and onboard purchases are billed in US dollars. Daily pre-authorisations may be placed on your account throughout the cruise, so we recommend ensuring your linked credit or debit card has sufficient available funds.

Things to know before you sail (hidden costs)

A few titbits to help you cruise with confidence and ease

Onboard Currency
All purchases onboard Royal Caribbean ships are in US Dollars. Your SeaPass® card acts as your onboard account, linked to a credit or debit card. Be aware that foreign transaction fees may apply depending on your card provider.

Room Service and Specialty Dining
Room service is available 24 hours a day and incurs a US$7.95 delivery fee per order (complimentary for guests in Grand Suites and above). Specialty restaurants carry additional charges, typically ranging from US$5.95 to US$95 depending on the venue.

Spa and Salon Purchases
A mandatory 18 percent gratuity is automatically added to all spa and salon services. This is not included in your cruise fare.

Medical Centre Charges
All onboard medical services are chargeable and not covered by Medicare or private Australian health insurance, even on domestic cruises. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes cruise-specific medical cover.

Age Restrictions

  • The minimum drinking age on Australian-departing cruises is 18
  • The minimum age to sail is 18, unless travelling with a parent or legal guardian
  • Some venues and activities onboard have age limits (for example, 16 and over for the fitness centre)

Theme Nights and Dress Code
Royal Caribbean offers optional theme nights and a mix of casual, smart casual, and formal evenings. You will find the themed event schedule onboard in your daily Cruise Compass.
