A Shift in How We Travel
Over the past few months, we’ve seen a clear shift in how our clients are approaching travel.
It’s not that people are travelling less – quite the opposite. But there’s a growing focus on how the journey is designed.
More consideration.
More structure.
More support.
Particularly for Australian travellers heading further afield, the emphasis has moved toward experiences that are well thought through from start to finish – where the logistics are handled, and the focus can remain on the experience itself.
The Rise of Polar and Wilderness Exploration
Some of the most interesting growth we’re seeing is in polar and wilderness cruising.
Antarctica, the Arctic, and regions like Alaska are no longer reserved for the ultra-adventurous. They’ve evolved into highly structured, expertly guided journeys, designed to take you to the edge of the world – without the uncertainty that once came with it.
- Small expedition ships with expert-led teams
- Immersive wildlife encounters – whales, penguins, bears
- Carefully managed landings and experiences
- Seamless logistics, including fly-cruise options to Antarctica
There’s something undeniably powerful about these environments. Vast, remote, and completely different to everyday life.
And yet, the experience of getting there – and being there – has never been more considered.

It’s Not Just About Where – It’s About How
What ties all of this together isn’t just the destination – it’s the way the journey is delivered.
Even solo travellers are increasingly drawn to these experiences, not just for the destination, but for the sense of connection and shared experience they offer.
The best journeys today balance:
- Independence with support
- Adventure with comfort
- Discovery with structure
It’s a subtle shift – but an important one.
We’re also seeing strong interest across a range of thoughtfully designed cruise experiences – from expedition-style Kimberley departures, to Alaska sailings during peak wildlife season, and even longer journeys such as Singapore through to Sydney in December.
It’s a good reminder that there’s no shortage of options – but the key is choosing the right experience for you.

Closer to Home, Equally Considered
For many of our clients, that same thinking is leading them to look a little closer to home – particularly within Australia and our surrounding region – not as a compromise, but as a different kind of experience altogether.
Oceania Riviera – December 2026
This 12-night round-trip sailing from Sydney offers a refined, closer-to-home Australian summer voyage, designed around exactly these principles.
- Smaller ship, more considered experience
- One of the finest culinary programmes at sea (10 guests to one chef)
- Adults-only environment
- A relaxed, unhurried itinerary with time to enjoy the ship itself
Destinations include Brisbane, the Whitsundays, Townsville and Cairns, with an overnight stay in Cairns and a final overnight in Sydney on return.
This is not about rushing from port to port.
It’s about enjoying the journey – properly.
As a hosted Points of Difference Travel and Events group sailing, there’s also the added benefit of shared experiences, optional group dining, and a sense of connection onboard.
Promotional fares are currently available until 15 April, after which pricing is expected to increase.

Of course, not every journey is about quiet refinement.

Different Travel Styles, Same Intention
Of course, not every journey is about remote wilderness or quiet refinement.
For some, travel is about energy, connection, and celebration.
All-Gay Cruise Experiences
All-gay cruises continue to offer a completely different kind of experience – vibrant, social, and unapologetically fun.
Sailings such as those operated by Atlantis bring together thousands of guests for a high-energy experience built around entertainment, connection, and community.
At the same time, we’re also seeing growing interest in more premium, experience-led all-gay journeys, including expedition-style offerings through VACAYA.
With previous polar sailings seeing strong demand from alumni audiences, VACAYA has now released a new North Polar cruise to the general public, opening up access to this style of experience more broadly.
If this is something you’re curious about, feel free to get in touch and I can share more details.
What We’re Planning Next
Alongside these journeys, we’re continuing to shape what comes next.
These are experiences we’re actively developing – and in many cases exploring ourselves alongside you.
Currently in the pipeline:
- Japan luxury sailing, with optional land extensions
- Australian wine and gin cruise, focused on produce and connection
- Kimberley luxury expedition cruise through one of Australia’s most extraordinary regions
If something here catches your eye – or sparks an idea – feel free to get in touch.
This is very much something we build together.
By Invitation – A Deeper Look at Expedition Cruising
We’ve been invited to a private cocktail event in Sydney with Silversea’s Senior Vice President of Expeditions, Conrad Combrink.
It’s a rare opportunity to hear directly about:
- Antarctica expedition options (including fly-cruise journeys that avoid the Drake Passage)
- New Asia expedition sailings
- The evolving landscape of expedition cruising
I have two guest invitations available for this event.
If you’d like to be considered, please get in touch and I can share further details.
Final Thoughts
There’s no single “right” way to travel right now.
But there is a growing shift toward journeys that are:
- Better designed
- Better supported
- And ultimately, more enjoyable
Whether that’s standing on the ice in Antarctica, sailing closer to home in complete comfort, or connecting with like-minded travellers onboard – the key is choosing the experience that’s right for you.
And getting it right from the start.
If anything here has sparked your interest, or you’d like to explore what the right experience might look like for you, feel free to get in touch. Happy to talk it through.
